There are a lot of different criteria that people use to qualify someone as a professional author or writer. Many of them include having a single poem or piece of work published, selling pieces or books for compensation to even being published traditionally. Somewhere in there, I fit. But not like a cardboard piece into a puzzle, but more like a flower to a garden. Creative writing is a hobby of mine, a professional hobby. I say this because it’s a past-time I take very seriously and love just as dearly. For me, writing, though gratifying and exciting, is one thing, sharing it is another, and truly fulfilling.” - E. Notes To Friends & Fans

06/08/08 – Wow, it's ben a long since I touched bases with everyone via my website. Many of you have shot me emails and even sent letters asking about my next compilation and wanting to read some of my unpublished peices of work. I've heard you and I'll be updating the 'Creative Writing' section of this site with fresh poems and a few new, unpublished (but under copywrite) peices.

The 2st draft manuscript of Tales of Earthenstone should be completed before winter of this year. I'm shooting for fall. Tales of Earthenstone had been a joy to write, but I'm been putting a lot of time and energy into getting another division of Tara Enterprises (Eidolon) revamped and off the ground. All of this has been truly rewarding and my Portfolio Career that I've undertaken since 2005 as an avenue to follow my multiple passions and diverse skillset has really taken a turn towards the best possible outcome as I'm seeing the fruits of my labor blossom into a garden of beautiful black flowers. :) So far, so great.

I can't wait to get back to Tales of Earthenstone (historical fantasy), a novella: Crack of Dawn (contemporary urban horror), and what I know is sure to be a controversial and sizzling novella: Forgive Us Our Trespasses (supernatural fantasy)that dares to take us into heaven, hell, and the blood drenched last day on earth.

I truly wish I had all the time in the world, but I don't. I'm getting there though! I also have a lot of content ready to go for my next compilation of poetry and short stories. The main part of that is writing and editing the short stories within the compilation. I've already have the title of my next compilation - but I'm not telling yet! I will say that each of my compilations will continue with the flower theme. From here on out, I'll simple refer to my upcoming compilation as "Orchids" so as not reveal too much, but give still you the name of the flower which will be a part of the title.

Don't forget to find me on MySpace - http://www.myspace.com/etarascurry

I'll be in touch!

09/16/07 – As always, thank you all for your emails of support, encouragement, and comments. For those who have completed their Storm of Roses reading experience, I encourage you and would truly appreciate it if you would also share your comments with the world via www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com. It's because of every single one of you that so such has been made possible. Since it's publication, Storm of Roses has won two awards from independent organizations and both Editor's Choice(for quality) and Reader's Choice (for sales) designations from my publisher.  You have no idea how much your emails and calls of encouragement and excitement mean to me.

I have gone through a bit of a slow spell in terms of my writing due to personal circumstances (relocating although still in Maryland, completing my MS degree, and a career transition) but in the last month I've received a high volume of inquires and even demands about when my first novel of the Tales of Earthenstone (TOE) will be available. I'm excited about your excitement and I'm glad that many of you report enjoying the teaser mini-chapter of TOE that's found in the last few pages of Storm of Roses.  All of my writing before TOE has been in poetry and short stories, so this novel and the novellas I'm working on are quite an undertaking for me (that I'm enjoying immensely, btw). I assure you that I've read your emails (and your letters!) and will be working particularly diligently on moving forward with my final manuscript before the end of the year. Thank you for all that you have done and are continuing to do to support and encourage me! I appreciate every one of you.  I look forward to reading your comments on amazon/barnesandnoble and seeing you all on the 6th of October!

Warm Regards,
E. Tara Scurry

11/30/05 – Thank you for all of your e-mails, calls and letters! Now I know that I need to invest in some official E. Tara Scurry stationary for Christmas! All of your words have been overwhelmingly encouraging and I truly appreciate all of you. I received letters from those of you who have even already gone to the bookstore to ask for my book (but to no avail, it’ll be released Jan/Feb I’ll keep you posted!), inquiring about having me speak at your book club, or simply just admiring the website. One interesting letter was in reference to not being able to/knowing how to order over the internet but also not wanting to wait the 6-8 weeks after publication for Storm Of Roses to be available at their local bookstore. I contacted my publisher and they told me readers may call 1-800-AUTHORS (288-4677) at extension #5109 (their book ordering line) and order easily over the phone. I have to tell you again, I just LOVE receiving your letters. They are absolutely wonderful! I’m not Anne Rice, Stephen King, or Nora Roberts yet ( :D ) so believe me when I say I read and answer them all myself (not as if they don’t, but I can’t imagine them answering the tons they surely receive) And if I have it my way, it’ll always be that way. I look forward to seeing you all at my Premier book signing in D.C. Much love to everyone, thank you!

01/08/06 – Since September of 2005, I’ve met so many people who have told me of their own writing or shared it with me. I’m surprised at the number of people who keep their beautiful writing to themselves or share it only with those very close to them. If any of you ever have the slightest inkling too, I encourage you to share it with the world because your writing could help someone, or at least entertain and make someone smile. I find both of these reasons very worthy of a little (or yes, even a big) effort!

04/16/06 – Huge thanks to everyone for making my first two book signings a success! At the premier signing on April 2nd we had 50+ attendees, sold more hardback copies of Storm of Roses then paperbacks, handed out over 50 raffle prizes and gift certificates, ate and enjoyed numerous readings from Storm of Roses. Additionally, at the second signing and (first mall signing) B. Dalton completely sold out of Storm of Roses 35 minutes before the signing was schedualed to end!!! (Noon-4pm) Storm of Roses continued to sell despite being sold out as multiple customers didn't let the lack of books deter them and insisted on ordering their copies! By special request, I'lll be returning to B. Dalton to sign these orders before they are given to them. Because the demand was so high, B. Dalton had invited me back for a second signing in May/June! Date TBA! I saw a handful of you from my last signing who came again to buy additional copies for friends and family. Thank you all for your support and I'm so glad you enjoyed Storm of Roses enough to share it with others! Details about the signings will be posted online and mailed out in the March/April newsletter. I'll have photos of the events online asap! After the books ran out, many of you asked about my next signing. As mentioned, I will be at B. Dalton again, but as a full-time student it will be difficult ifor me to do more than one signing a month - nevertheless you will be notified of my next signings and the website is always updated with the latest information! I will also be touring some open-mic venues and will post those dates as they arrive (probably no earlier than a week or two before the event) and I'll always bring a few books with me. Thank you all again and I always look forward to seeing you at my events!
