Letter to Readers
Dear Readers,
When I sit back and look at all that I've written, published and
unpublished there’s one commontheme in my writing: diversity, emotion,
and raw provocation. There are numerous criteria that people use to
qualify someone as a professional author or writer. Many of them include
having a single poem or piece of work published, selling pieces or books
for compensation to even being published traditionally. Somewhere in
there, I fit. But not like a cardboard piece into a puzzle, but more like a
flower to a garden. Creative writing is a hobby of mine, a professional
hobby. I say this because it’s a past-time I take very seriously and love
just as dearly. For me, writing, though gratifying and exciting, is one thing, sharing it is another, and truly
fulfilling.
To paraphrase from the introduction to my debut, Storm of Roses, my hope is that my poems and stories cause
you to second guess your reality, question the world around you, empathize with the subject matter, know that
you're not alone, challenge your current philosophy, or simply entertain you to the point of reading them over
and over again.
Each of you have my sincere appreciation of your support, encouragement, and most of all your un-ending
enthusiasm for what's to come!
Warmest Regards,
E. Tara Scurry
